Buddhist Medicine - Healing Accounts

Steven Sharpe works as a Business System Analyst for a Multi-National Corporation.

"Whilst participating in an outdoor sponsored charity event, I got involved in an accident, which clinically dislocated my right knee cap, tearing the external knee ligaments. Following transport by helicopter to the hospital for emergency treatment, the duty doctor tried replacing the knee with minimal anaesthetic. After the second failed and excruciatingly painful attempt, my whole body started to shake in an uncontrollable manner. Following this I was given a general anaesthetic, the knee replaced in position and the whole leg put in a plaster cast.

Upon my arrival home later on that day I telephoned Sifu. Unfortunately, he was away that weekend and was only able to return my call two days later. In the interim I had been in constant and considerable pain day and night. A short time after I spoke to Sifu who reassured me he would take care of the matter, I began to feel a strong tingling sensation in the whole of my right leg. By about 11 o'clock that evening the pain in my knee had almost disappeared and I was able to sleep well that evening. When the doctor examined my knee the next day, I felt hardly any discomfort with virtually no pain in the knee. That evening, the fourth toe on my left foot swelled considerably, with pain and heat in the region, suggesting a localised infection. By the next morning, it had worsened, making movement with my right knee rather difficult. That evening I went to Sifu Yeung for treatment. On my arrival my right leg was very stiff and awkward. By the end of the session, it felt considerably lighter and much more comfortable.

When I woke up the following morning after a wonderful night's sleep the infection in the toe of my left foot had completely gone. The improvement of my right knee has been extraordinary. I am convinced that it was the intervention of Sifu that so dramatically reduced my pain and discomfort after the initial injury and promoted a rapid and discomfort free recovery from the trauma to my knee."
