Buddhist Medicine - Healing Accounts

Dr. Mattick works as a registrar (Orthodontics) in the City of Manchester.

"I have suffered for over twenty years with periodic attacks of excruciating abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea of sudden onset. Such attacks have always lasted for at least six hours, and leave me feeling very groggy, exhausted and without appetite even the following day. Despite numerous investigations no cause has been found, and no cure or even a palliative has been successful.

One weekend, while away with my boyfriend, I sensed an attack coming on, and despaired as the pain increased and the vomiting began. Eventually, I took to bed and lay down to await the next onset of vomiting. Shortly after I must have fallen asleep, and as I came awake, the pain in my abdomen increased sharply, and then suddenly stopped, after which I fell asleep again. A few minutes later my boyfriend returned and asked me how I was, saying to my surprise that I had regained my colour. From my point of view the pain and nausea had all but vanished, and in moments I became fully awake and alert.

Unknown to me, my boyfriend had phoned Sifu Yeung to ask for his advice. Sifu simply instructed my boyfriend to leave me undisturbed for ten minutes or so, and then to call him back. This my boyfriend did, and on calling back, Sifu asked him to go and check on me, just as I have described. Within an hour, not only was I able to drive to a luncheon engagement, but to my surprise I also had a healthy appetite. Further more, I was still so energised the following day that I was able to participate in my usual aerobics class with vigour. After so many years living with a condition of such constancy, I know that this instant recovery was not by chance. In my opinion Sifu Yeung's intervention played a miraculous part in my unprecedented recovery, for which kindness I am awed and most grateful."
