About the Pathgate Institute Summer School
The Pathgate Institute Summer School this year will hold three retreats with Venerable Lama Dondrup Dorje:
I. Dharma Foundation Study Retreat
Date: Monday 2nd to Saturday 7th August 2010
Venue: Pathgate Dharma Centre, Athens Greece
Six days of Introductory Study for those who wish to cultivate better understanding of the Principles of Buddhism. Subjects of teaching will include the Nature of the Mind, Four Noble Truths, Interdependent Origination, Karmic Law of Cause and Effect, Taking Refuge, Meditation and other related topics.
This retreat is suitable for both the novice and those with limited experience in Buddhist practice. All participants of this retreat are required to attend the full period of the six days retreat because each day’s teaching builds on the teaching of the preceding day.
II. Palyul Namcho Dzogchen Retreat
Date: Monday 9th to Friday 20th August 2010
Venue: Pathgate Dharma Centre, Athens Greece
Twelve days of intensive practice with instruction from the Palyul Namcho Dzogchen Ngöndro Lineage. Ngondro is the essential studies that prepare the students who wish to enter the Diamond Path of the Vajrayana tradition. Instruction will cover the Four Preliminary Practices of Bodhicitta and Prostration, Mandala Offering, Vajrasattva Purification, and Guru Yoga.
Only students who have attended Dharma Teachings of Ven. Lama Dondrup Dorje and have taken refuge with him are eligible to apply for permission from Ven. Lama Dondrup Dorje to attend this retreat. All participants of this retreat are required to attend the full period of the twelve days retreat because each day’s teaching builds on the teaching of the preceding day.
III. Classical Internal Arts Foundation Study Retreat
Date: Tuesday 24th to Sunday 29th August 2010
Venue: Pathgate Dharma Centre, Newcastle upon Tyne, England
Six days of Intensive Study centred upon the Classical Internal Arts Principle as used by Ven. Lama Dondrup Dorje in guiding his students to become International Champions of Chinese Martial Arts in Europe and in the USA. From 1992 to 1998, his students won a total number of 370 Gold, 262 Silver & 129 Bronze Medals in Taijiquan, Xingyiquan, Bagua Zhang, Liu He Ba Fa, Wing Chun Gongfu, Shaolin Gongfu, Shuai Chiao, Push Hands, Sparring, Chi Sao and Weaponry.
Participants of these Intensive Studies are requested to attend the full period of the six days retreat because each day’s teaching builds on the teaching of the preceding day. Apart from Classical Qigong preliminary practices, each participant may specialise in one specific subject such as Medical Qigong, Taijiquan, Xingyiquan, Bagua Zhang, Liu He Ba Fa or Wing Chun Gongfu.
