"Simply being around Sifu is like having your battery topped up. The room in which we practise always has a feeling of 'fullness' - that is to say you can sense the electricity in the air, there is a definite feeling of positivity. Whenever I practise according to Sifu's teaching, I have enjoyed an immense calmness and a profoundly humbling sense of quiet all around me. I became aware there is a shimmer of energy around Sifu. At times, it was almost as if I was unable to look at him, for fear that he was actually melting, dissolving and then reappearing, stabilising again in front of me. The gently, rippling energy made him seem other-worldly. Sifu's energy was immense while delivering his discourse of the Buddhist Scripture Heart Sutra at the 1997 International Chinese Internal Art Festival. I have regularly witnessed the same shimmer surrounding Sifu during his teachings elsewhere - the shimmer of energy is gentle but constant.

During one teaching session, Sifu demonstrated the release of hidden emotion in my body as part of the illusion of their existence. When Sifu manifested the feeling of 'grief' in me - it was not a pleasant feeling. The complete heaviness, the immense weight and downward spiral of the energy made me slump down into a heap not wanting to move or to speak. To understand how this energy works is a key to ensuring that it can be counteracted. In contrast, the manifestation of 'joy' lifted me up and I found myself enjoying being bounced around. 'Anger' when it was activated rose up my back and pierced my chest in a terrible tightness, while 'worry' made me self- obsessed and sick in the stomach and 'fear' made me anxious and jumpy. To have experienced these emotions allows a clearer viewpoint to be taken on situations. This allows me to be more compassionate in my dealing with them - I am able to see in a clearer manner what I need to do to help or simply to not make things worse.

Sifu is indeed a profound teacher with the ability to see beyond our confined visions. Often I ask questions to which Sifu replies with a completely different answer - only after I investigate his response do I understand that my question was actually misdirected. Those who have read the stories of the old masters and believe they are too incredible to be true, or believe they have been embellished or exaggerated should take the time to investigate - you will find that the true spirit of the Ancient Masters is alive and living in the body and mind of Ven. Lama Dondrup Dorje."
