Freedom from Fixation - Part 3
Continuing the teaching on Freedom from Fixation, Ven. Lama Dondrup Dorje explains our obsession with winning and losing and the suffering it causes through insecurity, resentment and conflict. Using examples of how to better interact with our children, Ven. Lama Dondrup Dorje explains the importance of interacting with others based on what interests them, not what interest us; not acting competitively out of insecurity but having the security to help and support others.
For those who are secure in themselves, there is no need to win, or to be excited when we receive praise, there is no concern about being criticised. When we are obsessed with winning and losing, because the mind is insecure, we cannot generate benefit for anyone; we have no peace and no harmony.
Ven. Lama Dondrup Dorje concludes by explaining that letting other people win is about promoting their happiness, giving happiness to others. When we are not obsessed with winning and losing, with fame and fortune, our life becomes simple and easy; we win a life of harmony, a life without conflict.
