Stable, Lasting Happiness – Part 2

Foliage

In the second part of this Audio Teaching on Stable, Lasting Happiness, Ven. Lama Dondrup Dorje explains that everything in the world is temporary and we should not waste time on mundane activities. While we need material support for our life, we need food and somewhere to stay, we shouldn’t allow this to become our main focus in life. We shouldn’t get obsessed with such things or over-indulge in them, as they will not last and have no real benefit.

Often people ask, ‘What is the difference between Buddha and ordinary beings?’ Buddhas are ordinary beings who have attained the state of full awakening. We too can attain that same state if we let go of our attachment to the working of the conceptual mind and the mind that grasps to all kinds of conceptual knowledge that offer no lasting satisfaction, and thus return our attention to the true mind that is no different to that of the Buddhas.

So you need to have big motivation, you need to establish big aspiration and sincerely wish to attain enlightenment. This way you are certain to attain the right fruition. Practise is that simple.
