Pathgate Offers Christmas Cheer to the Homeless in Newcastle
The compassionate activities of Lama Dondrup Dorje Rinpoche extends beyond the boundary of giving Dharma teaching to students from around the world. He has long been associated with the promotion of community welfare by providing education, housing, food and clothing to those in need of assistance. This includes the homeless people in his home city of Newcastle upon Tyne, England. Under the direction of Lama Dondrup Dorje Rinpoche, the Pathgate Institute has been providing regular weekly delivery of fresh food and confectionary to the local People’s Kitchen which offers hot meals to the homeless people in the city.
Shortly before Christmas, Lama Dondrup Dorje Rinpoche made a personal visit to the People's Kitchen to find out first hand for himself their immediate needs for the festive holiday. In response to their requests, Lama Dondrup Dorje Rinpoche agreed to sponsor the roast turkey lunch with all the festive trimmings for over 100 homeless people on Christmas day. He also made a separate donation towards the procurement of large quantity of warm clothing and sleeping bags for the homeless people who visit the People's Kitchen throughout the winter months.
You too can play an active part to help the less fortunate through the Pathgate Partnership Programme. If you wish to make a donation, please visit Making an Offering. To read more about the People's Kitchen, click here.
