Gem of Wisdom for Daily Reflection:

Publication of ‘The Stairway To The Pure Lands’

'The Stairway To The Pure Lands' Prayer Book

The Stairway to the Pure Lands is the first ever translation of the prayers of the Palyul lineage of the great Khedrub Karma Chagme from Tibetan into English. This is the third of three books pledged by Lama Dondrup Dorje Rinpoche to his Guru the late Holiness Penor Rinpoche that he would have them translated from Tibetan into English for the benefit of the non-Tibetan speaking students of the Palyul tradition. The first two books, ‘Wish-Granting Attainments - Namdroling Monastery Daily Prayer Book’ and ‘The Wish-Granting Tree of Enlightenment’ - the Prayer Book of the Annual Prayer Assembly of Ngagyur Tradition have both been published and distributed widely around the world.

In the foreword of ‘The Stairway to the Pure Lands’, the late Holiness Penor Rinpoche gave the advice that 'when the prayers in this book are practiced every day, the practitioners will accumulate the two-fold store of merits, as vast as the ocean and fetch them happiness in this and future lives’.

Translated from Tibetan into English by Lopon Phuntsho Gyaltsen and edited by Lama Dondrup Dorje Rinpoche, the entire cost of ‘The Stairway to the Pure Lands’ is sponsored by Pathgate Institute of Buddhist Studies and is published in conjunction with the Ngagyur Nyimgma University of the Namdroling Monastery for free distribution. It is the wish of Lama Dondrup Dorje Rinpoche that the publication of this book will assist non-Tibetan speaking students to attain a better understanding of the meaning of Tibetan Prayers.
