Kyabje Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche is the New Supreme Head of Nyingmapa

Kyabje Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche and esteemed companions

Kyabje Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche is the throne-holder of the Dorje Drak Monastery, and the head of the lineage of the Northern Treasures, the tradition which originated from the treasures of the great tertön Rigdzin Godem. He is also renowned as a holder of all the great Kama and Terma traditions of the Nyingmapa, as well as being a great exponent of the Rime, or non-sectarian, tradition.

Following the parinirvana of Kyabje Trulshig Rinpoche, the representatives of the six main lineages of Nyingmapa School in India had an audience with Kyabje Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche in Shimla, H.P. India on the 6th March 2012. Having made the body, speech and mind offerings to Kyabje Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche, they put forward their request to Rinpoche to become the Supreme Head of the Nyingma School of Tibetan Buddhism. After contemplated for some time, Kyabje Tsetrul Rinpoche finally agreed and responded graciously with great humility and humour, "My accepting this position is like a dog getting the title of a lion. I will only take on this responsibility if Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche and Khochhen Rinpoche will also assist me."
