Gem of Wisdom for Daily Reflection:

Pathgate Summer Retreat 2013

Students practice meditation

2013 Pathgate Institute Summer Retreat began this year on the 2nd July and concluded on the 1st of September.

Over the span of nine weeks which covered nine levels of the retreat programme, Lama Dondrup Dorje Rinpoche gave teaching and instruction to the students in accordance to their level of faculties and experience. Lama Dondrup Dorje Rinpoche explained to the students that the objective of being in a retreat is to use this unique opportunity to retreat our body, speech and mind from our habitual fixations and to transform our body, speech and mind into a tranquil state that is free from the turmoil of worldly concern. The emphasis is to become a Dharma practitioner, with focus on the actual implementing of Dharma into daily life and not as a Buddhist scholar, obsessed with endless deliberation of concepts and intellect. In addition to daily practice of prayer, meditation, Chan Ding Taijiquan and full days of Teaching, students also benefitted from attending evening sessions of repeat listening to audio recordings from earlier retreats.
